Gone Girl

Goodreads Summary
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?

My Thoughts

Wow. Ok how do I even begin?

*takes a moment to wrap my head around this one*

This book is even more messed up than I was prepared for it to be. A book about a man's wife going missing is bound to be dramatic, but this book took it to a whole other level. There were things that did not surprise me in the least. I thought I had the whole thing figured out a third of the way through...and I did. However, my theory was revealed and another half of the book remained.  O.O

Talking about the plot is risky because there is too much that can be spoiled. Talking about the characters is pointless because that will just reveal too much about the plot. I will say that this isn't the book for everyone and if you thoroughly enjoy this book than I might be a little afraid of you.

I wonder if the movie did this one justice.
