Goodreads Summary
Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.
Something
has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father
disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in
at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her
from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of
her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.
But
she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a
mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn
just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a
mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a
young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy
heart.
My Thoughts
I'm not really sure what to feel about this book. I have never read any faery books before, so I don't have a frame a reference for this. I haven't even read Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream which part of the faery world seems to be based on. This book was interesting enough though. The faery world sounds beautiful, although sometimes difficult to imagine.
I was often frustrated with Meghan (almost always referred to as Meghan Chase which drove me crazy) because she was quite stupid at times. She wanders into this world knowing nothing, which is understandable, but then learns nothing from her mistakes. She keeps making promises no matter the risk. I just wanted to shake her and tell her to cut it out. Then miraculously by the end she has all this power and wins. What?
I'll keep reading because I am curious what will happen with her and Ash. Plus is Puck ok? Sure he was really annoying at times, but I still feel bad for the guy.
